The Erimitis headland, stretching out between Avlaki and Agios Stephanos, is one of Corfu's last truly wild landscapes. This undeveloped peninsula of ancient olive groves, dramatic cliffs, and hidden coves offers one of the best coastal walks on the island — and it starts practically on the villa's doorstep.

The Route
The main trail starts from the western end of Avlaki Bay and follows the coastal path out along the headland. The full circuit takes roughly two to three hours at a relaxed pace, covering around five kilometres. The terrain is mostly well-trodden paths through olive groves, with some rocky sections along the cliff edges.
Insider Tip
Wear sturdy sandals or trainers with good grip. The path can be loose and stony in places, especially on the descent to the hidden beaches.
What You'll See
The trail rewards you with constantly changing views. Looking north, the Albanian mountains rise dramatically across the narrow strait. Below, the water shifts through every shade of blue and green. You'll pass through groves of ancient, gnarled olive trees — some believed to be several hundred years old — and in spring, the headland is carpeted with wildflowers.

Hidden Beaches
One of the walk's highlights is the chance to scramble down to one of several small, hidden beaches along the north shore of the headland. These tiny coves, accessible only on foot or by boat, are wonderfully secluded. Bring your swimming things — a dip in the crystal-clear water is the perfect reward.
Practical Tips
Set out in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Bring plenty of water as there are no facilities along the trail. A sun hat is essential in summer. The walk is suitable for reasonably fit adults and older children — the cliff-edge sections require a degree of care and confidence.
The best part is how close it is — the trail starts just ten minutes from the villa.
It's a lovely way to spend a morning, and well worth making time for during your stay.
